Youth wing of ruling CPN-UML, Youth Association Nepal, on Saturday, submitted a memorandum to Home Minister Shakti Basnet demanding investigation into the controversy over the citizenship certificate of Sadbhawana Party Chairman Rajendra Mahato.Claiming that the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority had sought investigation into Mahato’s citizenship some four years ago when he was the health minister, the Youth Association Nepal handed over a memorandum demanding investigation into the case. YAN has demanded cancellation of Mahato’s citizenship and action against him for acquiring citizenship by submitting fake documents.
The YAN has submitted a copy of the memorandum to District Administration Office, Sarlahi, claiming that Mahato’s details were not available as all the documents were destroyed in an arson on 25 March, 2006.
